Sheer Maxi dress-hot or not?

I have been seeing a lot of Sheer Maxi dresses laity, most recently on the premiere of The Bachelor this season worn by Shira and another one who I can't remember her name right now.

I personally think they are not very appealing to the eye, or flattering..what do you think?
